ABOUT US
The St. Landry Parish Council on Aging is a nonprofit organization which operates a broad range of programs, under the provision of a state charter which was issued in November 1972.
The Council on Aging acts in an advocacy capacity on behalf of the elderly population of the Parish of St. Landry. It is the goal of the COA to strengthen and coordinate existing systems of service to the elderly and to foster the development of new systems in order to increase the older person's mobility, independence, security, comfort, well-being and happiness.
The COA operates a number of different services and programs aimed at teaching those in need of services and who find themselves alone, isolated, lonely, and in need.
The activites, policies and procedures of the Council on Aging are supervised by a Board of Directors comprised of 15 members, and a full time Executive Director. A staff of full and part time individuals are hired to conduct, supervise, and administer the work and activities under the sponsorship of the Council on Aging.
