Information & Referral
The Council on Aging (COA) provides information about available resources provided through this and other agencies.
Referrals are made for clients and are followed up to assure receipt of services. This service assures clients that the total needs of the person are met.

Senior Centers
The Council on Aging Senior Centers serve as a community focal point through which older persons receive supportive services as a participant in monthly planned activities for socialization, recreation, education and health maintenance. The Senior Centers are located in Melville, Eunice, Opelousas, and Port Barre.

Transportation
The COA Transportation Service is provided to transport participants to and from Senior Dining Centers, Medical facilities, grocery and personal needs in Opelousas and Sunset.

Outreach
The Council of Aging has staff members who visit older citizens in their homes. Outreach workers will help older citizens find help in meeting their needs. Anyone wanting an outreach worker to visit an older citizen is asked to contact the agency.

Homemaking
Homemaker aids are dispatched each day according to a regular schedule, to render light housekeeping, chore services, and personal services. The degree of need establishes a priority.The greatest need is served first.

Meal Program
The Council on Aging has four Congregate Meal Sites in the parish of St. Landry located in Opelousas, Eunice, Melville and Port Barre. Home delivered meals are provided to home bound persons who are truly in need of service. The drivers relay any additional services which the home bound clients may need in Arnaudville, Eunice, Opelousas, Port Barre, Melville, Washington, and Sunset.
